The underlying philosophy of the SAS Shoemakers in San Antonio is that they are "50 years behind their time." The design of the factory store, visited daily by at least ten buses as one of the 20 top visitors' attraction of San Antonio, follows this approach and attempts to create the feeling of a place from the past both inside and outside. Salvaged materials are used throughout the building, and entire building facades and even buildings have been moved and restored to elicit better familiarity and greater appreciation of the art of shoe making and craft in general.
